CCNC logo Raffaele Giaffreda (CREATE-NET), R. Venkatesha Prasad (TU Delft) from iCore, with the collaboration of Michael Koster (OSIOT / ARM) held a Tutorial on Internet of Thing (IoT) Paradigm in Consumer Applications at 11th Consumer Communication and Networking Conference CCNC 2014 – Las Vegas (USA). The tutorial was delivered to a full room of interested and interactive participants that had previously registered their interest in such an important topic. The tutorial gave initially an overview of what is the Internet of Things, related applications and rationale for Cognitive IoT; it provided further insights into the components of an IoT system, associated vertical and horizontal platforms; it then illustrated the features of an Open Horizontal Platform for achieving web-scale interoperability for the Internet of Things; it mapped the advanced features of the iCore architecture and it concluded with an overview of academic research issues being tackled in the domain of the cognitive Internet of Things.
